The Hague Convention In Effect Next Year

Every year thousands of adoptions take place in the United States and many are international. Whether the child is born internationally or the adoptive parents are currently living outside the U.S. the Hague Convention was written to improve the security in all areas of international adoption. Sixty nine countries, including the United States, have signed the Hague Convention thus far. The officials have announced that the guidelines will go into effect sometime in 2007.
